| Welcome to Mrs. Brown's 2nd Grade Web Page! |  | Welcome to our 2nd grade classroom of 09-10 school year. We are a class of 24 students. In 2nd Grade we expand and develop our Reading by perfecting "How to read" by learning the 74 phonems; and understanding better "What we read" by predicting outcomes; inferencing; drawing conclusions; and finding the main idea. This year we will be using the new adopted Reading series entitled "Mondo". The "Everyday Math" series is used for the instruction of Math along with many manipulatives; and a positive Classroom environment is built using the "Responsive Classroom" approach. The students are developing their writing abilities by doing personal narrative writing,writing letters to penpals, creating books, writing poems, and studying spelling words. All these skills are reinforced with our wonderful A+ model intergrating the Arts. We're looking forward to a great year!
