4 Seasons
Seventh Annual Irondale High School Girls' Hockey Clinic
For the seventh year in a row, our second and fourth grade girls were invited to participate in the Irondale High School Girls' Hockey Clinic.  This is a great opportunity for our girls to learn about other opportunities in girls' athletics as well as to learn some ice skating basics.  This year, we added a service learning component to our event.  With our hockey buddies, we made blankets to donate to Project Linus, an organization that gives blankets to children in both the emergency room and in the hospital for extended stays and who need a blanket to snuggle.  We ate lunch together and really got to know our hockey buddies.  Then we laced up our skates and got out on the ice.  The girls had a great time skating.  Everyone was smiling and laughing even through falls!  After some practice time and some races, we warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies.  We not only had a fabulous time, but we also made some new friends.  A lot of the girls are writing letters to their hockey buddies!  Thanks to the Irondale Girl's Hockey Team for inviting us, mentoring us and giving us sweatshirts.  Thanks to Schwan's Super Rink for donating the ice time and the ice skates.  Thanks to the IHS Girls' Hockey Booster Club for preparing the blankets and the snacks and for helping with the sweatshirts.
