On December 14, we celebrated our Fourth Annual Winter Skating Party with the Irondale Girls' Hockey team at the Super Rink in Blaine. Our second and fourth grade girls were invited for an afternoon of ice skating, hot chocolate and cookies. It was a great chance for us to learn about other opportunites in girls' athletics. We were paired up with hockey buddies who helped us lace up our skates and get out on the ice. In the spirit of giving, we gave our hockey buddies scarves with their school colors. They loved them! They gave us sweatshirts with their logo. Mrs. Rourke said that we could wear them as part of our uniform! We had a lot of fun learning how to skate. We even had some races! We also serenaded our hockey buddies via rink-wide microphone with some holiday songs. As we were leaving, our hockey buddies chased the bus, waving to us. We will miss our hockey buddies. We hope we get to go skating again soon.
